a logo i designed for Filter was made into a beautiful sign for the coffee shop. i’m so proud!
somehow its that time of the year already. the holidays! I have to design my cards so i can get them to the printer. Idea that i kind of like:
chris passed the bar! so his lovely lady friend, Bea came to me to get him set up with some biz cards for a “graduation” present….
Spoke to the client, he is happy! likes the french press silhouette and wants orange and to add the words: coffeehouse and espresso bar. And now, time to send the invoice 
NEW STUFF:
A coffee afficionado friend of mine moved to DC and is opening a coffee shop. He came to town a few weekends ago, and asked if i would design the logo for the coffee shop.
here are some stabs. the name of the shop is Filter, and it basically is because of the french press filters he will be using. they look like a cross inside of a circle, so that is where some of these came from. the ones with the script typeface came as a surprise, i think i was listening to some old timey jazzy music while i was working on these, and i think they kind of work.
I’ll post all preliminary ideas on this post.
admittedly, i have no idea where to take this hatches/slashes idea below….but i wanted to just put it up. It’s a mess right now, but i could make it work into something:

Yesterday, my book club friends and I went to a taping of the Rachael Ray show. It was really cool to see her and how the show works. She was definitely calling the shots – rewriting scripts/directing people on the set/etc. She made no mistakes while filming and there was no need to do multiple takes. Sally field was the guest and she looked incredible for her age and seemed pretty down to earth.
RR has a career that has everything I’m interested in….food, media, and magazines/publishing. It got me thinking about gearing myself more towards the food world – professionally. I’ve done some food styling at some photo shoots because of our low budgets and small staff – but I need to learn some tricks/take classes/shadow a professional.

Since I’ll be working at night for most of the summer (unless something happens) – i may have time to do an internship, apprentice, or take a class. I emailed a couple contacts today to see if anybody had any direction for me – so we’ll see where it takes me.
