It’s so nice out – i wish i could be outside. I feel like a kid in school – when the weather gets nice, you stop doing homework and studying and just get ready for summer break.
I’d like to reinstitute the summer break!
I have a new baby niece Sophie Elizabeth. She was born at 1:21 pm, 7lbs 9oz, 21 1/2″ long!
Now we can officially call them “Dan and The Girls”!
Carrie and Dan are at the hospital workin’ on baby #2. I can’t wait to meet my niece or nephew!!!!!!!!
I’m sitting in the attic apartment at 29 Grove street hanging with my cousins and we’re having a great time. Went to our cousin Carrie’s bridal shower today – and MAN was it a party. That was a pretty wild bridal shower! Any shower that involves NOT opening presents and involved some crazy crazy music is sure to stay in our memories for some time.
I wonder what the elders thought?
I think I’ll post some “swipe”. Thats what you call things you cut out, or bookmark in other publications, or packaging, or art that you like. So recently I saw a pull quote in GQ – and I liked the way it looked – so I cut it out, and put it up on the wall at work. So I’ll make a swipe library here of design that I like.
So here is a link to San Pellegrino’s website, but it sucks and takes 8 years to load so don’t go there. BUT their packaging for their sparkling mineral water, Aranciata and Limonata are really well done and beautiful. I think what I like about it is its just the right amount of retro – but its still sophisticated. It’s there in the type and in the simple star, and the very true blue color. All of which scream Italy and 1950. I also like how on the s. pellegrino bottles, the label looks like currency.
My friend Krista is trying to get a business going and asked me to whip together some rough ideas for a logo/identity system. Her business would involve her going to a location to do hair/makeup. like if you were getting married – ya call her, and she shows up with all her gear and makes you gorgeous.
I recently aquired a new typeface from Hoefler & Frere-Jones. It’s called Archer, and it’s gorgeous. Here’s a sample of its weights:
